We had been home for nearly
two months with Gianna when suddenly a very familiar feeling came upon us. Once again, we
felt the calling to adopt another child and grow our family. Only this time, the adoption will not
(hopefully) take 6 ½ years as Gianna’s did.
We decided to adopt a child with minor to moderate special
needs. It really didn't matter to us whether the child would be a boy or girl. We logged onto the adoption
website and went through the special needs check list. We questioned God, “Is this what you
want? Financially, how will we ever make
it? Would we be able to take care of another child with special needs? Will we
still be able to give each of our children the love and attention they need and
deserve?” God kept answering, “YES” to
any questions that popped up.
Once Joel and I were
both in agreement, we called our adoption agency (CCAI) and asked for an
adoption application. We completed the
application and nervously returned it to CCAI.
We were accepted into the adoption process once again on 2/25/13. Immediately,
we began to work rigorously on our dossier and work on our home study.
We remembered how tedious and time consuming this was from Gianna’s
adoption. We were scared, anxious,
happy, excited and terrified all at the same time. For those of you who do not understand, I
would say, It’s OK. No one knows God’s
plan for each of our lives, but I believe he has one. I do know that if you let him lead, great
things can happen. If you put your faith
and trust in him, he will take care of you and open doors for you that you
never thought could be opened. He will
give you courage, peace, and understanding that only comes from our Lord.
In the midst of starting another adoption, I decided to
change careers. I started working at
Conifer Healthcare, April 1, 2013. The
position change was fairly seamless, luckily for me. The people that I work with are amazing. Wow, I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by
such great co-workers.
We finished our Dossier and mailed it to CCAI on
8/25/13. We felt like we could finally
take a breath of air and relax a bit.
Our dossier was mailed to China on 9/6/13 and we were presented with a
Log in Date (LID) on 9/11/13. We were
overwhelmed with joy and thankfulness!!
Our adoption journey, is once again, moving forward…
